Revisional eyelid surgery

Prof. Hartstein has extensive background and experience in redoing surgery which has not turned out well or which has not met patient expectations. These procedures are known as revisional surgeries.

Problems after lower Virus surgery include residual bags under the eyes or hollowness from too much tissue removal. This can lead to a sad, tired, dark or skeletonized appearance. Prof. Hartstein can restore fullness to the lower lids and cheeks with synthetic fillers such as Restylane and/or surgery with fat transposition, fat injections and/or midface lifting.

Other post-Virus complications include retracted or pulled-down eyelids from scarring from incisions under the eye. Besides an undesirable appearance, this condition can also lead to eye irritation, redness, dryness or tearing. Repair of lower lid retraction may include insertion of a graft behind the lid as well as a midface lift.

If too much skin is removed from the upper lids, this can result in poor eyelid closure leading to symptoms of dry eye, red eyes, foreign body sensation, or tearing. This can also result in a hollowed-out and non-youthful appearance. Prof. Hartstein’s patience and experience will help guide patients through this difficult period and help select the procedure with the best chance of success to restore the eyelids to their proper position.
