Dermal facial fillers

Prof. Hartstein is on the cutting edge of the use of dermal fillers in the face. He most commonly injects Hyaluronic Acid fillers (HA). HA is a normal component of our skin which is lost as we age. By using HA fillers, Prof. Hartstein can often restore a more youthful look without surgery, or they can be used to maintain surgical results.

Many options exist not for non-surgical facial rejuvenation. Dermal fillers are injected into the face in order to add volume. Potential areas of injection include:

  • Under eye hollows
  • Sunken upper lids
  • Cheeks
  • Temples
  • Lips
  • Hollows around the nose and mouth.

Dr. Hartstein is a pioneer in using dermal fillers around the eye. The eyelids are the most delicate region of the face and it is crucial to understand the unique anatomy in this are in order to achieve excellent results. Fillers are different than Botox in that they do not reduce wrinkles by weakening facial muscles. Sometimes Fillers and Botox are used together in combination.

Dermal fillers are injected in the office-clinic using topical and sometimes local anesthesia. There may be some bruising and swelling after the injections, which usually will subside in a few days.
